BRUNSWICK – Angus King and Bowdoin College IT students and staff helped to celebrate the accomplishments of three high schools and more than 20 student Web designers from all over Maine. Here are the winners in the various categories of the 2005 Maine Student Web Design Award Program:

Morse High School of Bath, Noble High School of North Berwick and Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford tied for “Most Web Sites Entered.” These high schools won more than $20,000 in Web design software.

Area middle school winner was Best Web Site with Maine Theme: Samantha (Sammy) Laverdiere, eighth-grader from Auburn Middle School. Her site contains details about the ski areas in Maine, including location, number of trails and level of difficulty, lifts on the mountain, average snowfall and snowmaking coverage.

Second place for Overall Best Middle School Web Sites went to Neil Pomerleau, an eighth-grader from Auburn Middle School. His Web site is all about the Rubik’s cube and how to solve it.

There were more than 180 sites entered this year. Winning Web sites will be viewable at www.mswda.org.
