RUMFORD – Residents have a chance today to learn where the town’s five candidates stand on the issues and to ask questions at a 4:30 p.m. forum in the community room of Scrappers Domaine.
Running for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen are: incumbent Selectman Robert Bradley Sr., American Legion Commander Joseph Martineau, local businessman and pastor Joseph Roberts, businessman and NewPage Corp. employee Gregory Buccina, and organist and self-employed carpenter Mark Belanger.
Former state Sen. Norman Ferguson of Hanover will serve as moderator.
Lem Cissel, owner of Scrappers Domaine and sponsor of the forum, said several major talking points will be brought up.
These include: downtown revitalization; whether zoning is needed; future of the Rumford Public Library; whether the Fire Department should remain where it is or be relocated; a discussion on the past, present and future of the River Valley Growth Council and River Valley Technology Center; and whether more regional emphasis should be placed on the provision of some municipal services.
All Rumford residents are invited.
