AUGUSTA – Albert A. Maynard, 79, of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, May 25, at an Augusta health care facility.

He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Topsham, the son of Oscar E. and Rose S. (Lachapelle) Maynard. He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1943, and served during World War II in the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. He earned the Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, before being honorably discharged in 1946.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Bath Iron Works and later he was self-employed in the wood business, until his retirement. He was a Mason and a member of the American Legion Post 132 in Richmond.

He is survived by companion, Nedra Pettengill, of Leeds; several nieces and nephews; and a stepson, David Trask and his wife, Sandra.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Armand, Maurice, Henry, Roland and Andrew; and four sisters, Grace, Leona, Irene and Teresa.
