FARMINGTON FALLS – Deborah Nadine Ames Nault Powers, 55, of Farmington Falls, died Monday, May 23, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Harmony, a daughter of Norman F. and Antoinette M. (Bolduc) Ames. She attended Mark Emery Middle School and graduated from Anson Academy in 1968. She was homecoming queen and played on the basketball team.

She will be remembered by her children, family and friends as an amazingly courageous, strong-willed, beautiful woman who fought for and with everything she had through her life. She battled the last decade of her life with a recurrence of breast metastasized to bone cancer, but never lost her hope and optimism.

She loved and was proud of her store, The Outskirts Vintage Clothing, that she started with her daughter, Danielle, in the back-upstairs of her home in June 1996, despite all outside doubt. In July 2002, she expanded her business by moving it into the old State Theater on Broadway in downtown Farmington and built it up to make it the success it is today.

She had a lust for the simple things in life and enjoyed feeding hummingbirds, gardening, laughing, cooking, evening walks and scenic country rides with her children.

She was known for her creative talent as an interior decorator, and had a passion for painting, stenciling, antique collecting, homemaking and her coon cat, Apollo.

She was a gifted singer and loved music, especially acoustic guitar. She was a great mother, partner, friend and confidant, and she will be sorely missed.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Nault of Farmington; three sons, Ernie Nault of Clearwater, Christopher Nault of Farmington and Asher Powers of New Sharon; two brothers, Dana Ames and his wife, Sarah, of Madison, and Norman Ames of North Anson; threes sisters, Arlene Brown and her husband, Lauriston, of West New Portland, Kathleen Mills of North Anson and Rhonda Lancaster of Skowhegan; and two granddaughters who called her Nana, Christine Avery of Connecticut and Taylor Nault of North Jay.
