For many years, she worked at Sears in Lewiston, and later as the director and cook for the Auburn School Department at East Auburn Elementary School, retiring in 1972.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Warren Galway, and Sheena and Mark Peillet, all of Auburn; four grandsons, Ryan Galway and his wife, Shweta, of Falmouth, Nathan Galway and his wife, Brandy, of Lewiston, Neil James of Auburn, and Brent James of Boston; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Aaron Galway of Lewiston; a brother and his wife, Charles Robert and Thelma Gibson of Auburn; and two nieces, Joyce Gibson Estes and Barbara Briggs Hinkley, both of Auburn.
