LIVERMORE FALLS – SAD 36 directors unanimously voted Thursday to enter into contract negotiations with interim Livermore Elementary School Principal Jeannine Backus for the leadership position at that school. Backus has been the assistant principal of the elementary schools in the district for many years.
Principal Terrie Roberts left the district in May for a position in Florida. Backus has been interim principal since then.
The district will finalize a search committee for the middle school principal on Tuesday, SAD 36 Chairman Denise Rodzen said Saturday.
Principal Matt Gilbert is leaving to become the high school principal in SAD 43.
Rodzen said Livermore Falls High School Principal Rod Wright and she will co-chair the committee that will consist of four middle school teachers, two parents and another board member, Ashley O’Brien.
“It’s just nice to really focus on one search instead of having to focus on a search for two principals,” Rodzen said.
“It works out good to have veteran staff and be able to focus your energies on where you need it,” she said.
