LEWISTON – Violet May Card, widow of Joseph Benjamin Card, passed away peacefully at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion on Tuesday, May 31.

She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on May 1, 1907, the daughter of George and Matilda Yeadon Brunt. She was educated in Halifax schools and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School.

She worked as a spinner for a number of years at the former Worumbo Mill and later at the Juliet Mills in Lisbon Center.

She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who enriched the lives of all who knew her. Cooking and sharing family history were her passions, so family gatherings were always joyous and memorable events for everyone.

Surviving are three sons, Frederick Lamb and his wife, Margaret, of Nashua, N.H., Robert Lamb and his wife, Virginia, of South Portland, and Charles Card and his wife, Elsie, of Lisbon Falls; two daughters, Gwendolyn Fineberg of Chestnut Hill, Mass., and Gloria Holland of Auburn; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
