LEWISTON – Rita E. Rouleau, 84, of Lincoln Drive, Lewiston, died Monday, May 30, with her daughters by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, on Feb. 19, 1921, the daughter of George and Anna (Dionne) Violette and was a resident of this community all of her life.

She was educated in Lewiston schools and was employed in the local shoe industry for many years. She retired in 1985 as a housekeeper at Bates College.

She was married to Gedeon Rouleau on June 30, 1952, and he died on Dec. 23, 1993.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be remembered for her warm smile and pleasant demeanor.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne and her husband, Dr. Hezekiah Chinwah, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Suzanne and her husband, Ronald Pomerleau, of Auburn, and Pauline Rouleau of Lewiston; two grandsons, Dr. Justin Chinwah of Little Rock, Ariz., and Jeremy Chinwah of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Roger Rouleau, who died in 1981; one stepsister, Verna Pelchat; and two stepbrothers, Rene and Willard Violette.
