LEWISTON – Elizabeth “Beth” Stetson, 53, died Thursday, June 2, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston with her family by her side after a 10-year battle with kidney disease. She was a resident of Spring Avenue in Rumford.

Born in Rumford, on Dec, 10, 1951, she was a daughter of Ruel and Thelma M. (Shaw) Berry. She was raised in Carthage and graduated from Dixfield High School in 1971 and received her CNA degree from Rumford Hospital. She worked at the Rumford Community Home as a CNA for several years.

She was a member of the Virgin Memorial Chapel of the Rumford United Methodist Church. More than anything in the world she enjoyed her grandchildren. They will all miss “Nanny.”

She was married in Rumford, on Jan. 30, 1971, to the late R. Lewis Stetson III. He died in Rumford on Aug. 15, 1986.

Survivors include a son, R. Lewis Stetson IV and his wife, Amy, of Andover; two daughters, Kim Akers of Rumford, and Kristine Stetson-Gray of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; six grandchildren, Alyssa Rose Akers and Hailey Faith Akers of Rumford, Jeffrey Stetson and Kassey Gannon of Andover, Justin Gray and Lauran Gray of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; mother, Thelma Berry of Dixfield; mother-in-law, Clara Milligan of Oxford; brother, John Shaw and wife, Jean, of Roxbury.

She was predeceased by a sister, Cindy Sharkey, and a son-in-law, Chris Akers.
