LEWISTON – Gladys Edith Fisher, 89, formerly of Meadowview Apartments died Monday, June 6, at d’Youville Pavilion after a long illness.

She was born in Stockholm, on June 12, 1915, the daughter of William and Mattie (Guerette) Rossignol. She was educated in the schools of Guerette.

She was the wife of Adolph Leon Fisher Sr., who died in 1977. They enjoyed a happy life together.

In 1951 she moved to Lewiston, then to Sabattus, prior to moving to Meadowview Apartments.

Prior to retirement, she worked for Belmock Shoe Co., for many years.

While living at Meadowview, she was very active in the local senior citizen groups. She also assisted with pinochle games and worked at local voting polls. She was a recent member of the Red Hat Society and an avid bingo player.

She was one of 10 children, her six brothers were Fred, Walter, Albert, Wilson, George and James; and three sisters, Lida, Arlene and Marian. She is survived by her three children, Madeline Thompson of Seminole, Fla., Joseph Fisher of Sabattus and Adolph Fisher Jr., of Lisbon.

She was predeceased by two children, Viola Fisher in 1984 and Roger Fisher in 1999.
