NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – A Yale School of Management professor was found dead in his swimming pool Tuesday, police said.

Richard R. Wittink, 59, was the George Rogers Clark Professor of Management and Marketing.

A former professor at Cornell and Stanford, Wittink came to Yale in 1998. He was the editor of the Journal of Marketing Research and has written about how businesses can use customer data to build more effective marketing promotions.

Police said Wittink was wearing swim trunks, and his death was not considered suspicious.

A message seeking comment was left with Yale.
