TURNER – Residents of SAD 52 approved a $20.6 million budget for the 2005-06 school year in voting conducted at the Leavitt Area High School auditorium Wednesday evening.
The budget calls for state aid to the towns of Greene, Leeds and Turner to increase by $1,214,470 more than last year, while the three towns will raise $519,017 less than in 2004-05. A count of 34 votes on one question requiring a ballot revealed the number of voters from the three communities attending the budget meeting.
There was no discussion on any of the 18 articles in the warrant for the annual meeting.
Greene’s share in the reduced contribution to the budget will be $181,086, or 6.24 percent, while Leeds’ share will be $98,831, or 6.5 percent, and Turner’s will be $239,101, or 6 percent.
The total budget of $20,626,408 is $1,013,453, or 5.17 percent more than the current year, and includes additional state aid of $1,214,470.
Superintendent Thomas Hanson opened the meeting, with Selectman Errol Additon of Leeds elected and serving as moderator.
