I read a story (May 18) about some teenage boys who vandalized a South Paris cemetery. They pulled up the flag holders placed on the graves of veterans and were throwing them like spears. Many have not been recovered. I would hope the boys would return the holders or call a town official and tell where the holders are.
It seems those boys have not been taught any respect for other people’s property, much less respect for our deceased veterans. I pray that someday these youths will don a uniform and have to serve their country. Perhaps then they will understand why those flag holders are in our cemeteries to honor our veterans who died for our country.
It also bothers me greatly that people will steal flowers from graves. I know from having my husband’s flag holder and flowers taken.
Those boys need to straighten out and bring back the holders.
