AUBURN – Paving work will close Mechanics Row along Auburn Hall Tuesday.
The paving is part of a reclamation project that began in April. City crews closed the road over Patriots Day to grind off the old asphalt but were forced to delay repaving because of rain.
“There might be some delays Monday (today), because we have to do the prep work,” said Paul Niehoff, city pavement management technician. Drivers should expect delays then. The road will be completely closed for part of Tuesday until paving is completed.
Niehoff said state crews will be paving along both northbound and southbound Washington Street this week. Those projects should narrow the road to one lane and cause minor delays.
Auburn crews are also scheduled to begin paving work this week on Stevens Mill Road between Court Street and Belgrade Avenue.
That’s a one-day project and should cause some delays, he said.
In Lewiston, work on a new Bates Mill Enterprise Complex parking garage will close Chestnut Street occasionally through August. Crews are digging the foundation for the garage and will have flaggers on hand in case the road closes.
