DETROIT – Clint Steele recently spoke to more than 100 hockey coaches from around the world on “Off-Ice Training for On-Ice Speed.”

Steele made his presentation at the International Coaches Symposium in Detroit last month. He spoke on exercises and philosophy behind developing speed for hockey while training off ice.

Steele is the strength coach for the Lewiston Maineiacs and is a certified strength and conditioning coach as well as a doctor of chiropractics. He also runs a hockey Web site and magazine with distribution to more than 30,000 hockey players, parents and coaches in 26 states and two Canadian provinces. Steele runs Top Dog Athletic Training where he trains athletes from all over the world from youth levels through professional ranks, including several NHL players.

Steele lives in Lewiston with his wife, Kathy Boulet, and their sons, Hunter and Colt.

Annual meeting planned on island

PORTLAND – The Maine Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services will hold its annual meeting and banquet on Thursday, June 23, at the Diamond’s Edge Restaurant & Marina, Great Diamond Island, Casco Bay.

The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by a lobster bake at 7. Election of officers, awards and door prizes will begin at 8 p.m. The Casco Bay Lines ferry to Diamond Cove leaves Portland at 5:45 and returns to Portland at 7:50 and 9:15.

The event is free for members. The cost for spouses and guests of members is $25. Nonmembers are welcome. Their cost is $50.
