NORWAY – Carmen Roy Murphy, 73, of Bethel, died June 15, in Norway.

He was born in Rangeley, on Jan. 28, 1932, the son of R. Glen and Ersel (Williams) Murphy.

He was employed as a pulp truck driver for more than 40 years in the local area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and camper. He was a jokester and king of the one-liners. He loved people, and his family was his life.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothea (Valley) Murphy, of Bethel; his mother, Ersel Williams Murphy of Bethel; two sons, Carroll Murphy and his wife, Patti, of Sweden, and William Roy Murphy and his wife, Sylvie, of Bryant Pond; one daughter, Patricia Murphy of Harrison; three brothers, James of Bethel, Paul of Key West, Fla., and Christopher of Oakland; two sisters, Joyce Stearns of Bethel and Ruth Bishop of Bucksport; and two grandchildren, Uljas Murphy of North Carolina and Amanda Graffam of Brighton, Ma.

He was predeceased by his father; and four brothers, Robert Murphy, William A. Murphy, Frank S. Murphy and C. Ray Murphy.
