DIXFIELD – The Countryfolk Music Theatre will initiate a new summer project today. A free campfire country music, Friday night jam session from 6 to 9 p.m. starts today. It will run, rain or shine, through the end of August, at the new Countryfolk outdoor covered dance floor and stage area on Route 2 in East Dixfield.

All guitar and banjo pickers, fiddle players and musicians are invited, said spokesman Larry Bisbee. It will be for country, gospel, folk and bluegrass music. People are encouraged to bring marshmallows, chairs, musicians and family.

Following the jam, there will be a free dance from 9 to 11 p.m. Any donations will support the Countryfolk Youth Music Scholarships.

On Saturday nights, there will be a Country Pickin’ Jam & Songwriter’s Night each week from 6 to 9 p.m. during the summer.The regular Country Sunday jam sessions continue as scheduled from noon to 6 p.m.

“We are looking for songwriters interested in attending our special songwriter’s night. This is a brand-new project and we are hoping for a good turnout,” Bisbee said.
