WATERVILLE – Five members of the Maine Elks Association were honored recently at the annual VA Voluntary Services Volunteer Award banquet for their hours of service to veterans in Maine. The event took place at the Waterville Elks Lodge on April 14 and was attended by approximately 150 people.

Receiving awards were the following members: Sandee Welch of Rumford Lodge with 300 hours; George Wyman of Rumford Lodge with 300 hours; Rodney Woodrum of Lewiston Lodge with 1,286 hours; Tom Elliott of Brunswick Lodge with 2,500 hours; and Fred Lincoln of Augusta Lodge with 16,745 hours.

The awards were presented by Steve Hurd, chief voluntary services, and John Sims, Togus VA director. The awards recognize the volunteers for their hours of service from Oct. 1, 2003, to Sept. 30, 2004, at the Togus VA Medical Center and VA clinics across the state.
