I always understood that it is the law in Maine, as in other states, that the budget must be balanced. That means that income must be sufficient to pay expenses.

Pretty simple.

Our liberal Democrats in the Legislature chose to simply ignore the law by voting to borrow $450 million. Borrowed dollars are not income. Thus, they broke the law.

Shouldn’t they be punished? If so, what would the punishment be? A slap on the wrist? A spanking? Time in jail?

Personally, I would be satisfied to see all who voted to borrow millions of dollars (to be repaid over a long period of time to pay current bills) to simply resign in shame.

Can you imagine what kind of future we will have in Maine if we allow this to happen?

Scary.
