PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will meet Monday June 20, for a potluck supper from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be a brief business meeting when guest will be Joyce Lamb of West Paris. She will tell about her two-week sightseeing trip to England last year.

Anyone willing to bring a dish to share and anyone wanting to attend the guest portion is welcome. For more information call Betty Jones at 674-2507.

Quilt on exhibit

OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the Kay House meeting room, 73 Pleasant St.

The bicentennial quilt will be on display, and Judy Compton will explain the making of the Oxford town square. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Herb lecture

SUMNER – A lecture on “Herbs for Pleasure and Use” and a tour of herbs in the perennial border and production gardens will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Hedgehog Hill Farm.

Mark Silber, co-founder and lecturer at Hedgehog Hill, will discuss the aspects of using herbs decoratively, in the kitchen and for fragrance. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about new plants and a few additional tips about old favorites.

The gardens are open to the public for strolls, painting and photographing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Lectures are held rain or shine and no reservations are needed.
