LEWISTON – The Samson family of Lewiston and its friends has helped make possible the purchase of several items for St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center intensive care unit that will make the stay more pleasant for patients and their families.

According to Kate Sicotte, clinical care coordinator for the intensive care unit, Gerry Samson had been ill for many years and periodically his condition forced a trip to the hospital’s intensive care unit.

“Both Gerry and his wife, Terry, always remarked about the care and concern shown to them whenever he was a patient on our unit,” said Sicotte. “When Gerry passed away in February of this year, it was Terry’s idea to ask that family and friends make donations to the ICU in Gerry’s memory.”

People raised enough money to purchase a blanket warmer, a microwave oven, a DVD/VCR player and three sets of full-sized sheets for pullout couches in the ICU used by patient families for sleeping.
