WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) – A divorce attorney shot by a client’s husband outside a Middletown courthouse last week says it’s a miracle she’s alive.

Julie Porzio, 42, of Waterbury, said Thursday that she still has some recovering to do but expects to be fine.

Porzio and her client, Donna Bochicchio of Harwinton, were shot last week as they arrived at Middlesex Superior Court for the 12th day of Bochicchio’s divorce trial.

“No doubt there’s a guardian angel who was watching over me when he was shooting at me,” Porzio said.

Authorities said Bochicchio’s husband, retired state Trooper Michael Bochicchio Jr., killed his estranged wife and wounded Porzio before fatally shooting himself.

A bullet hit Porzio in the face and another shattered her left hand.

“I truly believe it. I was conscious the whole time. I knew what was happening. When it was over, you know, an EMT came to the car and thought we were all dead. I started talking to him and he started screaming, She’s alive.”‘
