BATH – Justin Clark plated Jordan Bichrest with the game’s only earned run in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading Smith Tobey past Gayton 4-3 in Zone III American Legion action Thursday.

Jim Ouellette and Brandon Wyman combined for 16 strikeouts for Smith-Tobey (4-1), but allowed eight walks, keeping Gayton (1-2) in the game.

Ryan Turgeon had driven in Brandon Gervais in the top of the sixth to knot the score at three for Gayton, while Zach Timmermeyer fanned five and walked two in the loss.
