GREENFIELD, Mass. – Jean S. Powers, 88, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, June 26, in Greenfield, Mass.

She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on May 20, 1917, daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth McKenna. She lived in the Lewiston community growing up, and graduated from the Lewiston school system.

Soon after, in the early ’40s she married the love of her life, James R. Powers, and together they raised a family in Massachusetts. She was a nurse’s aide at Belchertown State School in Massachusetts, until her retirement many years ago.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bernardston, Mass., and in her free time she enjoyed crafts and sewing, but loved her children dearly.

She is survived by a daughter, Beth Jacobs and her husband, William, of Colrain, Mass.; two sons, Robert and his wife, Jane Powers, of Marlborough, N.H., and Carl Powers of Oakland, Ore.; she will also be sadly missed by five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1984, one son, one brother and two sisters.
