LEWISTON – Police are advising that further road work may cause delays and traffic jams in the downtown area.

On Thursday, crews will be at Sabattus and Orange streets, and that intersection will be partially closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Drivers are urged to avoid the area, where local traffic limited to one lane is expected to cause traffic snarls.

Those drivers heading to the bank at the intersection are advised to reach Orange Street from Webster Street.

At the same time Thursday, Commercial Street from Pleasant Street to Ferry Road will be limited to one lane due to excavation and paving. Drivers are asked to avoid the area by using Apple Road, Dyer Road, Alfred Plourde Parkway and River Road.
