DALLAS (AP) – Dallas Stars coach Dave Tippett signed a two-year contract extension Tuesday, and his three assistants agreed to one-year extensions.

In Tippett’s first three years as coach, the Stars were 86-47-27. The NHL lockout shut down this past season.

Also returning are associate coach Rick Wilson and assistants Mark Lamb and Andy Moog.

“Dave has done an excellent job as head coach of this hockey team and we expect that to continue,” general manager Doug Armstrong said in a news release. “This group of coaches work well together and we are looking forward to getting back to playing hockey with them behind our bench.”

The Stars record under Tippett, 43, is tied for third best in the NHL from 2002-04.
