CAMBRIDGE, N.H. (AP) – A 47-year-old Epping man drowned Monday afternoon in the Androscoggin River, the Fish and Game Department said.

Sgt. Mike Moody said Jay Devlaminck and friends had been jumping from the Seven Island Bridge into the river when he was swept about 900 feet downstream.

His friends and onlookers got him out of the water and tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at a hospital in Berlin, Moody said.
