POLAND – Two Old Friends will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, July 11, as part of the Poland Spring Preservation Society’s Summer Concert Series at All Souls Chapel. Mac McHale and Emery Hutchins, affectionately known as Mac & Hutch, have recently joined forces to sing and play songs from Ireland, the mountains and the sea.
Mac and Hutch were the original founders of Northeast Winds. They traveled and recorded with the Winds for nearly 18 years.
For the last 17 years, McHale has headed up Mac McHale & the Old-Time Radio Gang. Hutchins has been a vital part of Angel Band, a world-famous Irish music group.
The two will perform some of their favorites from The Northeast Winds, as well as some old-time traditional country music. Their program is sure to include sea songs, a good number of hot-picking instrumentals and some sing-alongs.
Mac and Hutch will play the banjo, guitar, mandolin, concertina, bodran and the harmonica.
This year’s concert series again features a series of weekly raffles to help support the restoration of the chapel’s Skinner organ. All concerts are open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; member seating is at 6:25 p.m. Admission is $5 with all proceeds going to support the work of the Poland Spring Preservation Society.
