AUBURN – The Woodbury Brackett Environmental Center Community Lecture Series will continue at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, when Steve Drane, master gardener, will discuss “Edible Wild Plants.”
From dandelion salad and knotweed pie to herbs and ginseng, Drane will take participants on a tour of the center to identify edible plants and their uses. Refreshments and sample plant delights will be provided.

College workshop
LEWISTON – The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will sponsor a workshop, “The Essentials of College Planning,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Drive, and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. the same day at Jalbert Hall, Central Maine Community College, Auburn.
Adviser Christy Le will lead the free workshops. Those wishing to register should call 1-800-281-3703.
The center helps adult students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college., workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.
Adoption meeting
AUBURN – A free workshop on adopting children from China will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Community Room, 10 Simpson Beach Road. It is being held by Great Wall China Adoption.
