BANGOR – Former Georges Valley High School head soccer coach Per Henrikson has been named as the new men’s soccer coach at Husson College. Husson’s Athletic Director Gabby Price made the announcement Wednesday.
Henrikson guided Georges Valley to a 15-1-1 record last season, winning the Mountain Valley Conference Championship. During the 2003 season, he was head coach of Bhutan’s Men’s National Team while they attempted to qualify for the Asian Cup.
He also served as an assistant coach at the University of Vermont in 2002. Henrikson is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington.
Coffey named regional AD of year
LEWISTON – Bates College Director of Athletics Suzanne Coffey has been selected as the 2004-05 Division III Athletic Director of the Year for the northeastern United States. Her selection was announced recently by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics’ (NACDA) 1,600 member directors of athletics.
Coffey was appointed the director of athletics and chair of the department of physical education at Bates in 1991. In 1999, she was named a Sports Ethics Fellow with the Institute for International Sport and received the Institute’s Frank W. Keaney Award in 2002. Coffey was also honored as the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators Division III National Administrator of the Year in 200-1-02.
