A Hebron man was being treated Sunday night for multiple injuries suffered when his ATV flipped onto him in his driveway.

Bruce I. Hewison, 48, was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by LifeFlight air ambulance after the accident, which occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Oxford County Deputy Sheriff Chancey Libby said Hewison appeared to have head and chest injuries and a broken arm. “He had a lot of blood on his face,” Libby said.

Hewison had been knocked unconscious for a time, but was speaking with medics as he was being readied for transport, the deputy said.

Besides LifeFlight, PACE ambulance crews and Hebron firefighters responded to the call.

Libby said it appeared Hewison might have been attempting to turn “doughnuts” in his driveway when the 1996 Polaris ATV rolled onto him. People at Hewison’s 201 Allen Road home said he was alone in the driveway at the time, Libby added.

Game Warden Dave Chabot is investigating the accident.
