NORTH BERWICK – John E. Pomerleau, 57, passed away Friday, July 15, at his home of 25 years on Morrills Mill Road after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Livermore Falls, March 25, 1948, he was the son of Eugene and Eileen Pomerleau. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School, and later attended the University of Maine at Orono.

He began his 37-year career as an electrician at the International Paper Co., first in Jay, and then in Ticonderoga, N.Y. John held a master electrician’s license and operated his own company, J & M Electric, with his son for the past 20 years.

An active fireman of 41 years, he belonged to the Ticonderoga Fire Dept., and then to the North Berwick Fire Dept. for the past 25 years.

He was a member of the North Berwick Mason Lodge and the Kiwanis of Sanford.

John leaves behind his wife, Cheryl, of 36 years; two daughters, Lisa Pomerleau of Rollinsford, N.H., and Cynthia Eldridge of Sanford; a son, Michael Pomerleau of Sanford; a son-in-law, Kevin Eldridge; a daughter-in-law, Amy Pomerleau; five grandchildren, Corey, Bryan, Aaron, Tyler and Sierra; and his father, Eugene. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eileen; sister, Maureen; and his brothers, Danny, Peter and Paul.
