BETHEL – In the August issue of Golf Digest, Jason Hurd, Golf Director at The Bethel Inn and Resort Country Club, was named 2005 Golf Digest’s top instructor in Maine.
This is Jason’s second time receiving this honor. He was the receipient of the award during the 2003 season. Jason has worked at The Bethel Inn Resort and Country Club for the past 14 years. He has been the Director of Golf for five years and became a PGA Member in 1999. In 2001, Jason took over the reins as Director of Instruction for the Guaranteed Performance School of Golf at The Bethel Inn.
Jason Hurd and his accomplishments will be featured in the August issue of Golf Digest, which will hit newsstands July 15th.
Maine hockey alumni weekend
ORONO – The University of Maine men’s hockey team will hold an Alumni Weekend on July 24-25. Events Sunday feature the alumni hockey game and the ribbon-cutting of the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center.
More than forty alumni are scheduled to attend, including 1992 Hobey Baker winner Scott Pellerin, All-Americans Eric Weinrich, Blair Allison, Niko Dimitrakos, Gary Conn, Prestin Ryan, Todd Jackson, along with Bob Corkum, Garth Snow, and Alfie Michaud.
On Monday, the Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Penobscot Valley Country Club. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch and an auction will follow the tournament. A limited number of spaces remain available for the Golf Tournament, which can be reserved by calling 207-581-1483.
