LEWISTON – The Lewiston Public Library will present Mad Science “Fire and Ice” for ages 3 to 12 at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29. A demonstration of the effects of chemical reactions, the wonders of dry ice and the dynamics of air pressure will be presented. Attendance is free but limited; tickets are available in the Children’s Room.

Mad Science works to “spark the imagination and curiosity of children everywhere by providing them with fun, entertaining and educational activities for a better understanding of science.” Mad Science helps kids understand that science is all around and is fun.

Mad Science began with two brothers, Ariel and Ron Shlien, who had a love for science and a love for entertaining. They combined both and began to offer shows to the neighborhood children.

From then on the brothers continued to be innovative in producing laser shows and by 1990, they had become a company who offered “edu-taining” birthday parties. By 1994, the company became a franchise and through the franchise of Mad Science of Maine and New Hampshire, children and adults will have a great time in learning about science in a fun way.
