WATERFORD – The following books were recently added to the Sheena Fraser Gardening Collection at the Waterford Library:
“The American Woodland Garden: Capturing the Spirit of the Deciduous Forest,” by Rick Darke; “Emily Dickinson’s Gardens: a Celebration of a Poet and a Gardener,” by Marta McDowell; “Growing Herbs and Vegetables from Seed to Harvest,” by Terry and Mark Silber; “Native Trees, Shrubs, and Vines: a Guide to Using, Growing and Propagating North American Woody Plants,” by William Cullina; “The Passion for Gardening: Inspiration for a lifetime,” by Ken Druse; “Pete Dunne on Birdwatching,” by Pete Dunne; “Plants That Merit Attention, v. 1: Trees,” by Janet Meakin Poor; “The Well-Designed Mixed Garden,” by Tracy Disabato-Aust.
The Sheena Fraser memorial endowment supports a special collection in the Waterford Library of more than 100 hundred books on various gardening topics such as landscaping, vegetable gardening, perennials and annuals, including practical advice for both the master and the beginning gardener.
The Waterford Library is open to all residents of Waterford. Hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Mondays, 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to noon Fridays; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to noon Sundays (July 10-Aug. 28 only).
A homebound delivery program is available for Waterford residents. Books will be delivered to residents who are unable to travel to the library for any reason. This includes people with permanent or temporary disabilities or health problems.
A library volunteer will deliver books to participants approximately every three weeks and books will be renewable by telephoning either the library or the volunteer. To sign up for the program Waterford residents can call the library at 583-2050 to arrange for this service.
