PARIS – The town closed on a property at 9 Church St. Friday afternoon.
The property was purchased from Anne Shorette for $58,000, well below an early list price of $73,500.
Voters approved the purchase at the annual town meeting in June. Former Town Manager Steve McAllister in August 2004 suggested buying the house and razing it to create additional parking behind the Paris Public Library and the town office.
Shorette has 120 days to move from the home, and then the town will advertise for demolition bids, Jackson said.
“Hopefully we can have it done by snowfall,” she said of the work.
