PORTLAND – Charlotte M. Roak, 82, a resident of 7 Spring St., Freeport, formerly of Turner, died Tuesday, July 19, at Mercy Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1922, in Turner, the daughter of Forrest and Grace (Record) Austin. She was educated in Turner and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1940.

She married Ralph Waldo Roak in 1941.

She relocated to Freeport in 1972, where she was manager of Ward Town Trailer Park for many years.

She was also active at the AMVET Post No. 13, where she volunteered to serve meals.

Her enjoyments were family and friends. She enjoyed her independence and was always determined to look after her self. Her cat, Buttons, was constant company in her later years.

Survivors include two sisters, Edith Austin of Turner, and Eva Austin Dunigan and her husband, Dale, of Springfield, Ark.; three brothers, Willis Austin and his wife, Eleanor, of Buckfield, Ivan Austin and his wife, Sally, of Livermore, and George Austin and his wife, Leota, of Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Waldo Roak, in 1984; and two brothers, Gerald and Clarence Austin.
