LEWISTON – Ernest B. Belanger, 71, of Lewiston, died Monday, July 18.

He was born Feb. 3, 1934, in Lewiston, the son of Ernest and Juliette Belanger. He attended Lewiston schools, and worked at Bates Mill and Diamond Phoenix.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Far East.

He was a licensed ham operator and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an “incurable collector” and had a great appreciation of Asian art. He also enjoyed his weekly trips to Windham to visit his son and family.

Survivors include his son, Michael Belanger and wife, Teri, of Windham; his daughter, Debora Belanger and husband, Normand Guay, of Auburn; grandchildren, Michael James Belanger of Savannah, Ga., Christopher Belanger of Auburn, and Kayla Mayberry of Windham; great-granddaughter, Destiny Belanger of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lucille Giasson.
