The recent ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of eminent domain is an unconstitutional travesty of monumental proportions.

Of greater concern is the glaring apathy infecting Americans and the media at this insane attack on our rights as homeowners. As a nation, have we become so mentally deficient and self-absorbed that we no longer own the capacity to decipher the horrendous consequences this ruling entails? This is the very stuff we abhor in communistic philosophies and autocratic dictatorships. This is the stuff our Constitution and Bill of Rights protect us against. This is the stuff of nightmares.

If we allow this ruling to stand, then I have lived long enough to witness the collapse of my country’s ideology.

The family is the cornerstone of our culture, and the family home is the most precious of possessions. To jeopardize any American home simply to placate greedy politicians and wealthy developers goes against everything our country stands for. That the Supreme Court failed to recognize that only proves that, like diapers, we should change its members often and for the same reason.

Meanwhile, should any government entity want my home to build a hospital, a school or to improve our transportation network, it would have my cooperation. However, despite any Supreme Court ruling, it wanted my home to benefit a private development or to satisfy the voracious greed of wealthy developers and politicians, I will defend it to the death!
