NEW YORK (AP) – Police evacuated a double-decker tourist bus in midtown Manhattan on Sunday, handcuffing five men and searching about 60 passengers before determining there was no threat, the police department said.

Authorities stopped the red Gray Line bus just blocks from Times Square after a company supervisor told police that five male passengers with “stuffed” pockets had raised her suspicions, police said. Police handcuffed the men and had them kneel on a nearby sidewalk.

Officers laid passengers’ belongings out on the street, patted down each of the sightseers and searched their bags. When no threat was discovered, the five men were released and passengers were permitted to re-board, police said.

A recorded message at a number for Gray Line said the company’s offices were closed late Sunday.
