LEWISTON – The Lewiston School Committee has approved a new strategic plan for the coming school year, with goals that range from getting more state money to increasing parent involvement.
The plan is updated every year. This year it has more than 40 goals divided among teacher training, technology, community, facilities and the Learning Results.
The School Committee gave its approval Monday night.
Among the goals, school officials plan to:
• Closely watch the new full-day kindergarten program.
• Create greater after-school, summer school or other nontraditional learning opportunities.
• Offer some teacher training at the Dingley Building.
• Develop a policy requiring staff ID badges in school.
• Promote service learning.
• Hold joint meetings between the School Committee and parent-teacher organizations.
• Apply for state money to repair or replace Martel Elementary and Lewiston Middle schools.
