FARMINGTON – Lillian Norton Dexter Winter, 81, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, July 23, at the Pierce House in Farmington.

She was born in Jamaica, N.Y., on July 31, 1923, the daughter of Wilbur B. and Flora A. (Norton) Dexter Sr. She attended schools in Lakewood, Ohio, Fostoria, Ohio and Rocky River, Ohio, graduating from Rocky River High School in 1940. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1944. She received her MS in education in 1971 from Farmington State Teachers College.

On June 7, 1944, she married William R. Winter of Kingfield; he died in 1993.

She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, DAR, American Legion Auxiliary, Norton Wuori Post 61, was a charter member Kingfield Health Council from 1953 to 1956, a member of the Kingfield school board from 1952 to 1958, and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Farmington.

She taught English at Kingfield High School and at Mt. Abram Regional High School from 1965 to her retirement in 1984.

Survivors include her daughter, Anne N. Winter of Santa Clara, Calif.; her son, Amos G. Winter IV of Concord, N.H.; a grandson, Amos Winter V, and a granddaughter, Lilly Winter, both of Spofford, N.H.
