LEWISTON – Barbara Elizabeth Tobin Jordan, 86, died at Central Maine Medical Center on Monday, July 25, after a brief illness.

She was born in Fayette, on Aug. 22, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Mary Tobin. She attended schools in Livermore and Canton, and nursing school in Massachusetts.

She was a U.S. Navy nurse and was stationed in Hawaii for a while. She worked as an R.N. at the VA Hospital in Togus and at the Kennebec Valley Medical Center in Augusta. She also worked at the Red Cross. She was a member of Navy Nurse Corps Association.

She was married to James Louis Jordan II and had two children, Joyce Lynne and James Louis III.

She lived in Augusta and Farmington for most of her adult life.

She loved to read, sew, knit and swim.

She donated her body to medical science.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce; brother, Fred Lumbert and his family; brother-in-law, Bernard Adams; niece, Joan Kneeland; and grandchildren, Gabriel Gregoire, Toby and Joel Rose, Jessica Jordan and James Louis Jordan IV.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mabel Adams; and her son, James.
