LITCHFIELD – Just a month after Litchfield lost its elementary and middle school principal to another school system, the assistant principal has resigned. Now the tiny school system must fill both positions.
Cathy McCue served as principal of Libby-Tozier and Carrie Ricker Middle schools for seven years. She resigned in June to become principal of Tripp Middle School in Turner.
Beth Clifford, who served as assistant principal for six years, became interim principal when McCue left. But last week, she resigned to become curriculum coordinator in Calais.
The Principal Search Panel, which includes teachers, parents and school officials, is reviewing applications and hopes to have a new principal in place by October. They will allow that new person to help search for an assistant principal next spring.
In the meantime, the school system has hired middle school teacher Curtis Jack to serve as interim assistant principal through the school year.
The School Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at Carrie Ricker Middle School to discuss options for a possible interim principal.
