LEWISTON – A new restaurant that specializes in seafood will be the latest tenant to announce its location at the Bates Mill complex.
City officials will unveil the plans for Fish Bones, a new, locally owned eatery, at a news conference today at 1 p.m. The announcement will be made in Mill No. 6, future home of Fish Bones.
“We’re pretty excited about this one,” said Lincoln Jeffers, economic development director for the city. “People have been lamenting the lack of diversity among restaurant options, particularly downtown.”
Details about the restaurant will be revealed at the news conference, but the restaurant will occupy space on the first floor of the three-story building. Plans submitted by developer Platz Associates and reviewed earlier this month by the Planning Board show a fitness center occupying the first floor as well.
Androscoggin Bank announced plans last month to relocate its loan processing, deposit and information technology divisions to the mill. About 40 employees will work there initially. Bank President Steve Closson said he hopes the new operation will be in the mill by the end of the year.
Bates Mill LLC, which owns Mill No. 6, spent about $2.5 million renovating the 113-year-old building.
