VFW meeting

LEWISTON – Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St.

All officers and members are encouraged to attend. The agenda includes upcoming programs. Any eligible veterans wishing to become a member should attend.

Seniors session

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

Tickets will be on sale for the Tot Lot barbecue to be held at the community center on Aug. 17 and the fried chicken dinner on Sept. 21. Members may still sign up for the luncheon at Julien’s in Gray on Aug. 31.

The club met on July 20. Trip Chairwoman Joyce Poole announced that the trip to the Carousel Theater on Aug. 23 was full. She also mentioned upcoming trips to Randolph, Mass., on Dec. 1 for a show, “A Christmas Feeling,” and the New Year’s party on Dec. 30 to Jan. 1 at the Sheraton Hotel in Leominster, Mass.

Attendance winners were Midge Demers and Kay Hewison; pot of gold, Joan Webb, Helen Maguire and Phil Cyr. Bingo was played after a chicken barbecue.
