JAY – The second annual Big El Softball Tournament (1-pitch, double-elimination) is scheduled for Saturday, August 27 at Jay. Entry fee is $125, with the deadline for entries being August 24. Lewiston Men

LEWISTON – Gipper’s/White Rock earned a pair of wins in recent play in the National Division. Bob Haskell, Josh Breau, Ed Fadden, Jesse Robitaille, John Thibault and Joel Maxim all had multiple hits as Gipper’s beat Le National Club 8-4. Ben Kubicky belted a homer. Chris Giles went 3-3 for Le National. Chris Bickford and John Thompson added 2 hits each, with one of Bickford’s being a round-tripper. . . Gippers/White Rock also trimmed Carlton Club 10-3 as Robitaille went 4-4 and Haskell cracked 3 hits. Mike Gazza, Breau and Rusty Teague all collected 2 hits, with Gazza smashing a home run. Lawler, Erickson and Brian Bellemare all drilled 2 safeties for Carlton.

In the American League, New England Home Mortgage outslugged Fast Breaks 14-13 as winning pitcher Don Michaud cracked 3 doubles. Mark Frechette also socked 3 hits and Eric Strout added 2. Walter Jackson ripped a 3-run homer.

Auburn Players

AUBURN – Gary Chapman went 5-5 and Scott Lovejoy walloped a home run to lead undefeated Meineke Muffler to a 15-10 win over Sluggers Wednesday. John Langelier was the winning pitcher. Denney Phillipon clouted a homer for the losers
