Angela Labrie of Sabattus was awarded a bachelor’s degree at Bentley College on Saturday, May 21. James H. Quigley, CEO, Deloitte and Touche USA LLP addressed the 1,028 members of the class of 2005 and their guests at Bentley’s 86th undergraduate commencement exercises. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Labrie of Sabattus, she previously attended Oak Hill High School. Labrie majored in finance at Bentley and was recently hired as a financial representative at Fidelity Investments in Framingham, Mass.
Rachel Ganong, daughter of Brian and Peggy Ganong of Lisbon Falls was named to the Cedarville University dean’s list for the 2005 spring semester. Ganong graduated cum laude with a major in English, minors in art and bible on May 7. To be named to the Cedarville University dean’s list, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average for the semester and be carrying at least 12 semester hours.
Kyle R. Pilote of 502 Johnson Hill Road, Poland, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring Quarter at Rochester, N.Y. Institute of Technology. A first-year student in RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology, Kyle is studying Mechanical Engineering Technologies. Kyle is the son of Marian and Eugene Pilote of Poland and is a 2004 graduate of Poland Regional High School.
Jocelyn Curtis of Richmond, formerly from Lisbon Falls, recently was awarded two scholarships from the University of Southern Maine. Jocelyn received the Esther Wood Scholarship in honor of Ms. Esther Wood, former Maine and American history teacher at the University for 43 years. She also received a USM Alumni Association Scholarship which is awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and have made outstanding contributions to the University community.
Curtis is a senior at USM majoring in military history with a 3.73 grade point average. She is also a substitute teacher at Lisbon Community School and participates in Lewiston-Auburn Community Theater and Monmouth Community Theater. She is presently also working on an independent study in northeastern Maine documenting data and oral history of the second largest German POW camp established in Princeton/Indian Township Maine during World War II.
Libby Anne Murphy, daughter of Kevin and Mona Murphy of Auburn, was named to the fall 2004 and spring 2005 dean’s list at the University of Maine at Orono. She was recently accepted in the University’s School of Nursing and will begin her junior year at the University this fall. Libby was a 2003 graduate of Edward Little High School.
