LEWISTON – The School-Based Health Centers are offering sport screens to local middle school and high school athletes who wish to play a fall sport in Lewiston, Auburn or Lisbon Falls.

Eligibility to receive a sport screen is limited to students who have no pre-existing conditions such as cardiac (heart) problems, serious chronic illness or recent surgery. A nurse practitioner will be on site for the sport screens. A passed sport screen will enable your child to play in a sport at his or her school for the entire school year.

Appointments must be made in advance. A sport screen packet will be available for pick up at the school office at ELHS and LHS and at the practice in Lisbon Falls. These packets must be picked up, completed and signed before coming to your appointment.

Edward Little will be accepting appointments for Tuesday, Aug. 2, while Lewiston High School will be on Wednesday, August 3 and Lisbon Falls will be on Thursday, August 4th, at the Lisbon Falls Family Practice. The cost is $25.00.

The School Based Health Centers are part of the school program working with the athletic departments and sponsored by Community Clinical Service through St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Athletes are encouraged to get a complete physical by your primary care physician on a biennial basis as the sport screens do not take the place of a physical.

Please call the Health Center at 782-6827, Ext. 241, for futher questions and appointments. Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis.
