FARMINGTON – Gerard J. Caron, 84, of Sopers Mill Road, Auburn, died Wednesday, July 27, at Sandy River Nursing Home.

He was born in Haverhill, Mass., May 2, 1921, the son of Pierre and Angelina Bosse Caron, and had been an Auburn resident since 1924.

He was employed years ago for Gerard Construction Co. and later worked at Etonic Shoe Company for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed the great outdoors, especially walking in the woods and also helping his neighbors with their various handyman chores.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Sawyer of Dover, N.H., Sandra Caron of Livermore Falls and Diane Farrish of West Virginia; a son, Michael Caron and his wife, Sharon, of Turner; five grandchildren, Margaret and Kyle Sawyer, Roshelle Caron, Michael Farrish and Maggie Pennell; six sisters, Theresa Caron, Cecile Bishop, Angelina Gauthier and her husband, Robert, Eva Lebel and her husband, Phillip, all of Auburn, Blanche Morin of Bristol, Conn., and Lillianne Latouche of New Brunswick, Canada; and three brothers, Emile Caron, Louis “Jimmy” Caron and his wife, Rita, and Arthur Caron and his wife, Pat, all of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his parents.
